Adelsys service: repair and maintenance

Expert repair
At Adelsys, a certified clinical engineer oversees all medical and laboratory equipment repairs. A certified histologic technician oversees all histology equipment repairs. We repair any of the equipment we normally maintain. We have access to parts for equipment no longer maintained by the manufacturer.
Effective maintenance

Adelsys performs maintenance work on customer premises based on particular instrument needs. Click on the following laboratory equipment for more detail on preventive maintenance programs.

Automated Glass Coverslipper Preventive Maintenance Program
  • record slide volume on slide counter
  • inspect and clean dispenser body, dispenser guide, liquid volume in dispenser well, coverslip suction cup, storage forks, conveyor drive chains, slide baskets, fingers, xylene tray, storage racks
  • clean and lubricate elevator drive screw
  • inspect mountant consistency, clean jar, flush system with xylene, remove xylene and refill with mountant and bleed it to remove air
  • inspect and adjust vacuum rod, R-guide, separate guide, separate spring, elevator stop position, finger position, finger springs, coverslipper holder alignment, timing sequences
  • lubricate elevator shafts and rotary parts, storage forks, finger shafts, main shaft, all cam and roller bearings
  • rebuild vacuum/pressure pump, replace sheet valve and piston
  • replace filter on suction line
  • run multiple slides for final inspection

Automated Tape Coverslipper Preventive Maintenance Program
  • clean exterior, slide conveyor assembly and xylene overflow tray
  • electronics system and solenoids checked for normal operation
  • xylene and mountant flow assemblies checked and tested
  • air pump replaced and pressure setting adjusted
  • coverslip film assembly and slide receiving mechanism cleaned, inspected and adjusted
  • film, basket and slide proximity sensors serviced and checked for adjustment
  • run a minimum of 40 slides for final inspection

Automated Slide Stainer Preventive Maintenance Program
  • remove and slide fume control cover
  • remove reagent trays and clean overflow basin
  • inspect water supply drains and drain hoses
  • disassemble robotic arm covers, degrease and relubricate robotic arm shafts and slide bearings, inspect slide bearings and robotic cables
  • test current, key switch, display and ram
  • home robotic arm
  • clean water ports, encoder wheel, stain dispensers, exterior surfaces
  • lubricate lift arm mechanism

Cryostat Preventive Maintenance Program
  • remove microtome from cabinet and defrost
  • service microtome
  • service cabinet
  • reassemble instrument making necessary adjustments to bring to factory specifications
  • inspect controls and electrical cord
  • check defrost cycling, temperature and cooling controls

Embedding Center Preventive Maintenance Program
  • clean exterior surfaces and apply paraffin repellent
  • inspect electrical system for possible defects in service lines and controls
  • check, clean and make necessary adjustments to dispensing console, thermal console, cryo-console
  • verify temperature settings and adjust if needed.

Microscope Preventive Maintenance Program
  • remove, inspect and clean eyepieces, accessories and major components
  • degrease and re-grease mechanical stage and exposed focus system raceways
  • reassemble instrument and make necessary adjustments for mechanical stage stops, coarse and fine focus system limits and sub stage assembly stops
  • clean and inspect eyepieces and objectives
  • center condenser, set Kohler illumination, align fluorescence, phase, dark field and polarizing systems
  • inspect optical system and illumination system
  • clean instrument exterior

Microtome Preventive Maintenance Program
  • remove and check specimen clamp and knife holders; clean, adjust and lubricate where necessary; replace strings, screws and pins
  • check lead screw and trunnion nut for wear and excessive play; clean, adjust and lubricate where required
  • check advance cable mechanism, replace as required
  • check dovetail for play; adjust and lubricate as required
  • check calibration and advance feed mechanism; adjust and/or replace as necessary
  • check crank arm and ball coupling for excessive wear; adjust and/or replace as necessary
  • check crank arm timing
  • check correct operation of audible alarm; adjust as necessary
  • check flywheel brake setting; adjust and replace brake if necessary
  • if instrument has retraction, check for correct operation; adjust as necessary
  • if instrument has orientating head, check for correct operation
  • clean and lubricate as required
  • inspect all other functions of the instrument for satisfactory operation and refit specimen and knife holders
  • reassemble and adjust instrument
  • clean outside case of instrument

VIP Tissue Processor Preventive Maintenance Program
  • clean exterior
  • inspect electronics system and test electrical safety
  • disassemble, test and service pump and solenoid system
  • remove drive motor and disassemble rotary valve for complete relubrication and seal service
  • inspect and service reagent bottles and all tubing/connectors and fittings
  • inspect and service oven and paraffin containers
  • replace lithium battery
  • inspect retort gasket and latches
  • test run all operations
